What Does the Resource Program Look Like?
The Resource Program or Room 305 is a busy place where a variety of things are happening to support student learning. Usually students who receive support through the Resource Program are scheduled to come to Room 305 for a 40 minute period daily. During this period, students come with classroom tasks and receive support from myself (Ms. Tucci-Browne) or Ms. Ashton, one of the Special Needs Assistants who supports the program. Students can also use the room as a place to come and complete work or tests, to use one of the computers or assistive technology, or just when they need a quieter space.
In addition to the regular Resource support, the Intensive Literacy Support Program (ILSP) is also a part of our program. The ILSP program is a reading program that supports many of our primary students in the morning literacy block for 30 minutes daily. Students work in small groups comprised of peers who are reading at the same levels on improving decoding, fluency and comprehension. Our Educational Assistants work in conjunction with Ms. Tucci-Browne to deliver this program and support our primary teachers and students.
The Resource Program serves a great many of our primary and junior students and supports teachers with providing necessary accommodations for many of our Special Education students.
